Hundreds of MCAST students have lost 3,878 hours of lectures since the opening of the scholastic year, Opposition education spokesman Evarist Bartolo said today.

Describing the situation as scandalous, he said the situation was brought about mostly by a teacher shortage. The worst affected were students in the foundation courses, who were often missing their English and Maths lectures.

Mr Bartolo said this constituted serious lack of planning by the authorities.

The situation, he said, was leading many students to give up.
