Over 300 youngsters, aged between eight and 12, recently attended a Malta Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA) Star Track event held at Marsa.

Children had the opportunity to try out a wide range of events including hurdles, javelin and pole vault under the supervision of expert personnel.

The Star Track series not only aims to provide such enjoyable opportunities for children but also to promote athletics. Many of the events in Star Track could be performed without the need of special facilities or expensive equipment and may easily be introduced in schools, football grounds and other open spaces.

It seems the first Star Track event went down well with the young athletes, the coaches and other older athletes who assisted and without whose help the event could not have taken place.

The MAAA, who showed its appreciation to all those who somehow contributed to make the opening Star Track event a success, is now planning to hold a similar activity in Gozo besides a Star Track summer camp in July and August.

Details are being sent to clubs and schools.
