More than 350 meals delivered to families in need on Christmas Day
Church volunteers work with Il-Kċina ta’ Marta for Christmas initiative
More than 350 two-course meals were delivered to 120 homes on Christmas day by church volunteers working with solidarity kitchen Il-Kċina ta’ Marta.
Recipients – people who were unable to attend the annual Curia Christmas lunch because of mobility, health or other challenges, also received a dessert and Christmas gift for any children in the household.
The volunteers numbered over 220 and were coordinated by the Volunteers Office of the Archdiocese of Malta.
Il-Kċina ta’ Marta is a project organised by 70 Maltese parishes in partnership with the Alfred Mizzi Foundation. It prepares and distributes food to people in need and forms part of the Fondazzjoni Opri Soċjali tal-Arċidjoċesi ta’ Malta (FOSAM).
Volunteers shared numerous touching experiences from the day, including locating beneficiaries despite incorrect addresses, identifying urgent health needs and ensuring help arrived in time, and responding compassionately to difficult personal situations.
Some beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude, sharing that it was their only conversation of the day, while others spoke of ongoing hardships, illness, or financial struggles. Volunteers also noted the strong sense of unity and personal growth they experienced by coming together in the service of others.
Il-Kċina ta’ Marta and the Volunteers Office of the Archdiocese of Malta thanked all volunteers and benefactors who made the Christmas day initiative possible.
