Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector extends Youth Volunteer Overseas Scheme

Over 180 young people who volunteered abroad have benefited from €227,000 disbursed through a scheme that has now been extended for those aged under 36.

The Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector's Youth Volunteer Overseas Scheme has now been extended to cover youths aged between 18 and 35 who want to carry out voluntary work abroad lasting between two weeks and three months.

The scheme covers up to €2,500 in expenses for mobility, flights and insurance.

Applications for funding are open year-round and can be accessed here.

Over nine years the scheme has helped out 182 people from 43 local voluntary organisations who travelled to Kenya, Ghana, Philippines, Cambodia, Paraguay and Perù among others.
