€500 grant for parents of Year 10 and 11 students to support digital learning

7,483 parents representing 7,740 secondary school students to benefit from €3.87 million scheme

Parents of children in Years 10 and 11 will be receiving a €500 grant to encourage the use of digital tools linked to education.

Social Policy Minister Michael Falzon and Educatin Minister Clifton Grima said on Friday that 7,483 parents or guardians representing 7,740 students will benefit from the grant which is worth €3.87 million.

The  measure complements last year’s initiative when around 20,000 digital devices were distributed to students in Years 4, 7, 8 and 9.

“This is tangible policy reaching our families, because we believe we can have more quality jobs in the future, provided we invest more in early education,” Falzon said.

Grima said that it was important to ensure that al student have access to tools needed to learn and develop their skills in an increasingly digital world.

Those entitled to the measure will receive an SMS or an information letter. Anyone requiring further information or clarification should contact Servizz.gov Freephone 153, extension 14, which is the extension of the Department of Education.
