Fewer than half of Algerians who came to Malta on Air Malta flights since the 2013 elections returned to Malta on Air Malta flights, according to information given in Parliament.

Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said 48% of the Algerians who arrived on Air Malta flights returned on Air Malta direct flights.

Replying to a parliamentary question by Beppe Fenech Adami (PN), Mr Abela said 5,365 Algerians arrived in Malta since March 2013 were registered on the Personal Identification Secure Comparison and Evaluation System (PISCES).

2,784 Algerians are registered on the same system as returning to Algeria on the direct flights operated by Air Malta.

No information was given in the minister's reply on whether the Algerians had remained in Malta or gone elsewhere.
