The Water Services Corporation said today that more than 68% of domestic customers billed so far had benefited from the new eco-reduction - which is meant to encourage water and electricity savings by giving a refund for those who do not exceed set thresholds of consumption.

The corporation said it had so far issued 55% of pending bills to its residential customers.

The figures show that those who benefited most were the households with the biggest number of persons.

The percentage of beneficiaries in single-person households was around 48%, rising to 80% for four-person households (see above tables).
