A total of 65 hunters have applied for a special spring hunting licence but four withdrew their application by closing time at noon today, the government said.
The government said it would be issuing the 61 special licences in the coming days.
Last week, the government said it was prepared to issue up to 2,500 licences for spring hunting. The Hunters' Federation told the hunters not to apply, arguing that the hunting season, at one week, was far too short, and it did not agree with limiting the number of hunters to 2,500. There are some 12,000 hunters who hold a general hunting licence.
The FKNK also said it would name and shame the hunters who ignored its directive.
