€7,000 raised for Fondazzjoni Sebħ
Funds raised by Tangent Club Malta during a Christmas sweets cooking marathon organised at Villa Bighi with the support of Xjenza Malta
Tangent Club Malta, led by its president Marthese Micallef, recently presented Fondazzjoni Sebħ the sum of €7,000 raised during a Christmas bakes marathon that it held on December 13 at Villa Bighi, Kalkara, with the support of Xjenza Malta.
The funds will go towards the foundation’s After Care Service, which supports young people who are preparing to leave residential care and begin living independently. This initiative further strengthens investment in their education and personal development, enabling them to enter adulthood with greater confidence and stability. The service is run by a number of professionals who work with these young people from the age of 15 to begin preparing them for independent living and to help them plan their future despite the various difficulties they may have faced.
Xjenza Malta played a key role in enabling Tangent Club to organise the marathon. The agency’s CEO Silvio Scerri thanked everyone involved, including volunteers, those who attended, donated, and supported the initiative in every possible way.
“The assistance provided by Xjenza Malta in this project is part of our social responsibility because we believe in the cause of Tangent Club and the project of Fondazzjoni Sebħ, through which the After Care Service offers hope to young people who have reached the point of taking the next step in their lives,” he said. He added that Xjenza Malta is committed to helping projects such as this that offer a future to young people.
Micallef said that besides raising the funds, the marathon also sparked a strong sense of unity and solidarity among all the sponsors and volunteers. “People who had never met before worked side by side, hand in hand, with generous hearts, as if they were one big family. The atmosphere was so positive that many have already asked to take part again next year,” she said.
