71-year-old cyclist grievously injured in Luqa accident

The incident took place in Luqa on Tuesday morning

A 71-year-old cyclist was grievously injured after being involved in a collision with a car on Tuesday morning. 

According to police, the incident happened at around 9.15am in Triq Ħal Qormi in Luqa.

Preliminary investigations suggest the collision occurred between the cyclist, an elderly man from Kirkop, and a Mercedes driven by a 24-year-old man from Naxxar. 

The cyclist was assisted by a medical team and was then taken to Mater Dei Hospital via ambulance. There, he was certified with grievous injuries. 

The police are investigating.
