In the first eight months this year the police removed 78 abandoned vehicles from the roads, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told parliament yesterday.

He said that if the vehicles were not claimed by their owners within a month of publication of a notice in the Government Gazette and the daily newspapers, they would be sold or scrapped.

He was replying to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Carmelo Abela.
