The image brings back fond memories to all those who took part in this epic film. The local film industry can boast of big blockbusters shot here along the years but Midnight Express remains one of the most successful films that were shot entirely in Malta.  Fort St Elmo in Valletta was the main location where most scenes were shot involving many extras. The filming lasted 55 days round about September 1977.

Thirty-nine years later, on June 4, the same director will mark the anniversary by making a speech at Fort St Elmo as part of the Valletta Film Festival.

Surely, many will be looking forward to this event.
