Adrian Delia is still struggling to project the Nationalist Party as a united party. As correctly indicated in the leading article of The Sunday Times of Malta, (November 26), the road to recovery is uphill.

This process would have been much easier if Chris Said – an asset to the PN – had been included in the leadership team.

One hopes that Dr Delia will be able to reach out to those who are still sceptical about his leadership and that he is truthful as he takes the party forward. This is owed to our country and to Daphne Caruana Galizia who lost her life for her commitment to the truth. As Archbishop Charles Scicluna said recently: “Society can only function properly if the value of truth is upheld both in personal relationships and in governance.”

Dr Delia’s new way, as stated in the leading article in the Times of Malta (November 28) “has to bring back hope to a people overrun by unbridled economic success, by environmental degradation and a collapse in societal values.  To do that he will need to integrate the old way in his new way.”

This is a delicate task that requires a synergy which combines the different components of the party into a dynamic, inclusive PN which reflects a diverse society. It is well worth the effort.
