Actor Steve Hili claims to be proud to be a Maltese man, but adds that becoming what he is today was not an easy task, as he tries to explain to his long-suffering fans in his latest show, Sex Confessions of a Maltese Man.

Sex Confessions of a Maltese Man chronicles the sexual development of the 30-something Hili from conception to teenage mayhem to the self-described weirdo he is today – using the comic actor’s trademark humour.

However, this is also the story of a generation of Maltese men, a tale of a sexual journey shared by most 30-something men in Malta. From being a school-boy in pre-internet days and secretly watching shady Italian shows like the infamous Colpo Grosso, to having a girlfriend who would not have sex because it was a sin, to that fumble in the car which left you unsure if you had lost your virginity or not, this is a unique show – with each situation being acted out by Hili, and some puppets of extremely questionable judgement. The puppets are under the direction of local puppeteer Sean Briffa.

The audience is not let off scot free either, as a questionnaire will be given out so that some (probably hilarious) statistics can be compiled for the show. But there’s no need to worry as it will all be done anonymously, Hili assures everyone in his cheeky manner.

Sex Confessions of a Maltese Man runs between June 6 and 9 at the Splendid, Strait Street, Valletta.
