A drug addict who stole electronic equipment from his own brother’s house to sustain his heroin habit was yesterday placed on probation for three years.

Patrick McGahern, 20, stole a TV, a subwoofer, an HTC mobile phone and a DVD player on Sunday from the house belonging to his brother in Marsascala.

Magistrate Mareanne Farrugia sentenced him to three years’ probation and ordered him to undergo a drug rehabilitation programme.
