Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has signed a one-year contract extension with the Italian champions.

The former Milan coach agreed terms on a deal which will keep him with the Bianconeri until June 30, 2017.

Allegri enjoyed a successful first season at the club, guiding Juve to the domestic double – Serie A and Coppa Italia – for the first time since 1995 and also reaching the Champions League final.

A statement from Juventus read: “Coach Massimiliano Allegri has extended his contract by a further year.

“The 47-year-old, who led Juventus to the club’s 33rd Scudetto title, 10th Coppa Italia triumph and a Champions League final in an extraordinary first season at the helm, will now look to build on the giant strides made during his opening 12 months in Turin.”

Allegri replaced Antonio Conte at the helm last summer just six months after being sacked by Milan, and was initially not well received at the club by the fans.

However, he has earned the respect of the Juve faithful after an impressive campaign that saw Juve contest their first Champions League final since 2003.

Juve lost 3-1 to Barcelona in last month’s final in Berlin.

The new deal will see Allegri’s wages increase by one million euros to €3.5 million per season to become the second highest-paid coach in Serie A behind Inter’s Roberto Mancini, according to reports.

“Allegri is our leader and has enjoyed an extraordinary first season at the helm, taking the club to another level,” Juve president Andrea Agnelli said on the club’s official website.

Zaza signing

Juventus have exercised their option to buy Italy striker Simone Zaza in an €18 million deal from Sassuolo.

The Serie A champions said yesterday the 24-year-old has signed a five-year deal to join the club who bought him in 2013, only to agree a co-ownership deal with Sassuolo and ultimately sell him.

“Juventus Football Club can today confirm that Simone Zaza has completed a permanent switch from Sassuolo for a fee of 18 million euros, to be paid over the next three years,” the club said.

Juve signed Zaza from Sampdoria in the summer of 2013 for a fee of €3.5 million, but sold 50 per cent of his rights to Sassuolo for €2.5 million and then, one year later, sold him outright for a further €7.5 million.

Juve also handed Italy international Claudio Marchisio a new deal.

Marchisio, a youth product of Juventus, signed a five-year contract which will see him remain with the Bianconeri until June 2020.
