Obituary

ATTARD. On August 22, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, LORENZA of Kalkara, aged 79, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother John, her sister Pierina, Sister of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St Joan Antide, her nephews and nieces, Michael, Rose, Johann, Alex and Michael, their respective families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence today at 1.30 p.m. for St Joseph parish church, Kalkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Sisters of Charity of St Joan Antide, Tarxien, will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank all the doctors, staff and the Capuchin Father of John Paul II Ward IV, St Vincent de Paul Residence, for their admirable care, dedication and loving care. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

BONDI DALLI. On August 23, Mgr EDWARD BONDI DALLI, aged 97, of Victoria, Gozo at the house where he resided. He leaves to mourn his loss Ġanġu Saliba and his wife Ġolina, their children Georgette and Marthese, their spouses and Marthese’s daughter Elena with whom the Monsignor lived, his brother Joe and his wife Maria, his sisters Yolanda and Sr Elena who lives in Italy, cousins, relatives and friends, the Chapter at the Victoria Cathedral and the Chapter at St George’s basilica also in Victoria. The funeral leaves the Gozo General Hospital tomorrow at 4 p.m. for the church of St James, where he will lie in state and prayers will be said. This will be followed by a cortege for the basilica of St George where a concelebrated Mass praesente cadavere will be led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at 5 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Marija Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Fondazzjoni Arka will be appreciated.

FIORENTINO. On August 23, at Mater Dei Hospital, SALVATORE of Luqa, aged 88, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Philippa, his children Rita and her husband Edward, Joe and his wife Connie, Connie, widow of Lino, Charles and his wife Mary, Elisa and her husband Charles and Ronald and his wife Ċettina, his sister Ġanna, his brothers Leli and Pawlu, his sisters-in-law Karmena, Maria and Ġuża, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3.30 p.m. for St Andrew’s parish church, Luqa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Luqa cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SCICLUNA. On August 23, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, DORIS, née Camilleri, widow of Ignatius, aged 87, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved daughter Marthese and her niece Phyllis Caruana, her in-laws Giovanna, Mary and Ersilia of Australia, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Antonia today at 8 a.m. for St Mark’s church (Santu Wistin), Rabat, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Margherita Cemetery, Rabat. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the management and staff of Casa Antonia for their loving care and dedication. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

In Memoriam

BONNICI. In ever loving memory of our dear uncle, the Most Rev. Mgr. ENRICO BONNICI on the 50th anniversary of his death. Alfred, Lilian, Marilyn.

LEEKS – WILLIAM MICHAEL. Ever loving memories of a beloved husband and father on the 18th anniversary of his sudden demise. Always in our thoughts and prayers. Frances and Franklin.

LUCIA – MARIA. An exemplary wife and a loving mother who always gave God the first place in all she did and who raised us, her children, in the love and fear of God. Sadly missed and fondly remembered with love, gratitude and respect, particularly on her anniversary, by her children, in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We miss you mama, rest in peace in the embrace of God’s love.

MAMO. In loving memory of BICE, née Barbara, today the second anniversary of her death. We miss you. Always in our hearts. Her beloved husband Franz, her children Anna, Sandra and Erik, in-laws, grandchildren, family and friends. A memorial Mass will be said on August 26 at 6 p.m. at the Ursuline chapel, Sliema.

MANDUCA – DAVID. In ever loving memory of our beloved baby son on the 21st anniversary of his death. Always in our thoughts and prayers, Anthony and Rowena.

PORTANIER – MARY, née Preziosi. In loving memory of a dear mother on her 27th anniversary. Always in our thoughts and prayers. Her sons, daughters, respective husbands, wives and grandchildren.

ZAMPA – ROMEO. Remembered with love and affection on the 24th anniversary of his death. Never forgotten by his family. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts tomorrow as follows:

Between 8 a.m. and noon in Bacchus, Wine, Grape, Katlan, Ġellewża Sewda, Għenieqed and Pawlu Borg streets in Attard.

Between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Fisher, St Paul, St Mary, Ramiro Calì and Ta’ Ħaġrat streets in Mġarr.

Between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Parish Priest Muscat Square and Ghosts, Qrajten, Hospital, Parish Priest Mifsud and Manuel Magri streets in Ħamrun.

Between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. in 31st March 1979, 8th December, Għajn Qatet, Wistin Camilleri, Dr Anton Tabone, Ġużè Micallef and Manwel Dimech streets in Victoria.

Food and wine at Palazzo Parisio

A night of good food and wine topped up with classical music is being organised by the Malta Historical Society at Palazzo Parisio gardens in Naxxar on Saturday at 8 p.m. The public is invited to this fundraising event.

Guests will have the chance to acquire a painting by John Martin Borg, win a weekend break for two and a voucher from Midsea Books. Seating will be available.

Marine photography

Entries for the 2011 Din l-Art Ħelwa marine photographic competition must be submitted by September 9 to 133, Melita Street, Valletta. The competition encourages two categories of marine images. One capturing examples of the negative effects of human activity on the sea or the coastline, for which underwater filming is not necessary. Chinese films at Garden of Serenity

Three contemporary feature films entitled Super Typhoon, Forever Enthralled and The Ring of Rainbow Flower will be shown in turn tomorrow, Friday and Saturday at 8.30 p.m. during the annual Summer Film Festival at the Garden of Serenity in Sta Luċija.
