A gas regulator that was recalled last summer is still in use and recently caused a fire in Birkirkara, the consumer authority warned yesterday.

Anyone in possession of this regulator can return it to the shop taking along proof of purchase

The TPA Butane regulator was recalled along with the green Liquicontrol regulator because of the serious risk they may pose to consumers.

The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority said the blue regulator was still used widely and urged consumers to check the model they had on their gas cylinders, including those connected to gas heaters and barbecue sets. The TPA Butane regulator does not comply with standards as it could spring a leak.

Anyone in possession of this regulator could return it to the shop, taking along proof of purchase, since there are several importers of this type of regulator.

Since the recall, Liquigas, which used to import the green regulators, has received a consignment of replacement ones.
