EasyJet is the first European airline to launch a passport scanning function to its mobile app.

The app, which has been downloaded over 10 million times, now enables customers using an iOS or Android device to scan passport details using its camera, making it quicker and easier to check in.

James Millett, easyJet head of digital, said: “Our new mobile passport scanning function will save time for the millions of customers who use the app to input their travel documentation details.

“We’ve developed the new function in partnership with credentials management service Jumio to ensure details can be scanned in easily, safely and securely.”
