Like Karm Farrugia’s ‘Innovative Financing’ (January 24) and Helen Borg Bonnici’s ‘Unexplained hefty bill’ (January 30), I would also like to protest vehemently at ARMS’s arrogant behaviour and unethical business practice.
I stand by my anger as the following explains.
On November 18, 2013, ARMS sent me a note entitled Payment Not Honoured. Presumably, for some unknown reason, my bank did not carry out my debit order.
ARMS demanded that payment must be made within 20 days, threatening a monetary charge if payment was not made on time.
That same morning, I complied with their demand and honoured my commitment 12 days before the deadline.
They did not keep their word, nor did they abide by their own condition.
To rub a sore wound ARMS imposed extra charges on two successive bills: one of €11.65 and the other of €35 without any explanation.
Five times I demanded an explanation only to receive an impersonal automated reply that the matter will be dealt with. After 73 days I am still in the dark, even though I paid both bills under protest.
Three people could scribble, protest and make claims but how many others are taken for a ride.
How many perhaps not literate enough to realise that there are mistakes or deliberate charges in the thousands of bills that ARMS send so regularly on time.
