I refer to the interview with Manuel Delia (The Sunday Times, October 28). In the months and weeks leading to the introduction of the Arriva bus service, the man was hogging the air waves to saturation point.
I clearly remember what Delia said on Radio 101 during a live link while on one of the buses a couple of hours into the new service in June last year: “All is ship-shape and plain sailing here, but for one snag: the air condition-ing. A handful of passengers on this summer morning are complaining that the temperature’s too low.”
After the many problems that accompanied the introduction of this new service, the man shunned the media and kept out of the public eye. The new bus service was so poor that it had to undergo major structural changes in less than a year of operation.
Now that Delia is contesting the general election, he is back in the media, notwithstanding the fact that public transport is in such a bad state.
