The much anticipated KTM 790 Duke has finally reached Malta. It was officially unveiled by KTM representatives when KTM stunt rider Rok Bagoroš was wowing people with his tricks and stunts.

True riders know the importance of balance between power and precision in a bike of such calibre, and this is exactly what KTM has managed to achieve here with the combination of a light, state-of-the-art chassis and the new LC8c engine. As a result of this mechanical marriage, the bike has great torque on tap and a 105 horsepower rush, which makes for one happy rider.

The LC8c engine is KTM’s first inline twin, with the ‘c’ standing for ‘compact’. It was designed with torque in mind, and the liquid cooled eight-valve unit delivers 87Nm at 8000rpm. Furthermore, an advanced ride-by-wire system allows for great refinement, as well as low fuel consumption and emission figures.

The exterior components of the chassis itself have been reduced to the bare essentials, leaving behind no unnecessary parts or cover which are not imperative for function. Therefore, the engine itself doubles as a load bearing element, while the frame is made of extra strong chrome-molybdenum tubular steel, meaning that ultimately, less material is needed.

Down low, the 790 Duke is equipped with Maxxis Supermaxx ST tyres, which have staggering grip in both wet and dry conditions. Nonetheless, they are lightweight, resulting in the bike feeling lighter overall, as well as working towards minimising the unsprung masses and moments of inertia.

The beautiful details of the 790 Duke are best viewed up close, so those interested in having a closer look are invited to visit the Fapi Motors Ltd showroom in Attard or call 2339 2328/9 for more information. One can also e-mail info@fapimotors.com.
