Children have the right to live in a safe environment and this is the main message of an information campaign launched by the Foundation for Social Welfare Services.

The campaign aims to create more awareness about how important it is for a child to be loved and respected without being exposed to violence.

Emphasis is being put on responsibilities parents and carers have – using a positive approach, based on love, encouragement, discipline and care.

The campaign symbol is a blue ribbon, indicating bruises children suffer as a result of abuse. In fact, the same symbol is being used by various other countries to mark Child Protection Day.

The foundation is embarking on other initiatives to promote positive parenting. These include information for parents and children, parenting skills courses within the community, projects offering support to families in need, and services for families going through difficult situations.
