A military exercise involving navy and air units from Mediterranean countries forming part of the 5 + 5 process will be held between tomorrow and Friday.
The exercise, dubbed Canale 2013, now in its 19th edition, aims to promote cooperation and peace in the Mediterranean region, with particular emphasis on strengthening the cooperation between the 5+5 Initiative partners.
In the exercise training activities will focus on search and rescue operations and law enforcement at sea.
Canale 2013 is organised by Armed Forces of Malta (training branch) and the Italian joint operational headquarters and coordinated by the AFM Maritime Squadron.
Algeria, France, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia have accepted an invitation to take part with surface/air assets or personnel.
