Teachers and students from nine European schools including Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School, Naxxar, recently met up in Valencia, Spain, to hold the second meeting of the Comenius project Harmony for Earth, for Life and for People (HELP).

During the meeting, each participating school gave presentations about biodiversity and renewable energy in their respective country. The students also took part in a Trash Art Workshop to create works of art out of material one would usually consider as waste.

This meeting, which took place at the Istituto La Sénia in Paiporta, was attended by teachers and students from Malta, Turkey, Spain, Slovenia, Poland, Italy, France, Portugal and Romania.

The Maltese school was represented by Environmental Science teacher Zachary Engerer, PE teacher Lorraine Buttigieg and two students – Daniela Muscat and Nicole Green Vella.

The next project meeting will take place in March in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and will focus on water treatment, waste management and consumer protection, among other topics.

The project is funded by the EU’s Comenius Multilateral Action under the Lifelong Learning Programme.
