The Nationalist Government paid more than €23.7 million in consultancy fees for five projects, according to information revealed in Parliament.

The projects are the Ċirkewwa quay and terminal, the entrance to Valletta, Dock Number One, the introduction of Arriva, and the White Rocks project.

Answering questions by Labour MP Chris Agius, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi said that in more than 50 per cent of the cases, these consultancies were given by a direct order.

The consultancy fees paid on the Ċirkewwa quay and terminal amounted to €2.8 million, while €17.7 million was spent on the Valletta entrance project. The sum of €1.3 million was spent on Dock Number One.

Since 2008, consultancy fees on public transport amounted to €850,000 and those relating to White Rocks were €517,899.
