The first official clip from new movie Fifty Shades of Grey has been unveiled − and it features Christian Grey picking up just a few of his bedroom essentials in a DIY store.

The footage sees the billionaire protagonist, played by Jamie Dornan, stocking up on cable ties, masking tape and rope as a flustered and nervous Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson), who works part-time at the shop, serves him.

Businessman Grey suggests he has no intention of using any of his new purchases to redecorate.

While the clip from the film, which has been cloaked in secrecy, features none of the raunchy scenes that the books by E.L. James are famous for, there is plenty ofsexual tension.

It ends with college student Steele, who is unaware of her soon-to-be lover’s predilection for sadomasochism, joking: “Rope, tape, cable ties, you’re the complete serial killer,” to which Grey replies: “Not today.”

The clip was released after the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) made Sam Taylor-Johnson’s take on the raunchy novels an 18 certificate and said that the work “passed uncut”.

Universal has previously unveiled trailers for the film, featuring the couple kissing passionately in a lift and a montage of shots involving whips, robes and blindfolds.

Fifty Shades of Grey is set for release worldwide in mid-February.
