The first volume of the self-titled album by The Sound Catalogues will be launched with a live performance over two consecutive nights. The line-up for the event will consist of Carlo Muscat (saxophone, compositions), Sandro Zerafa (guitar), Daniele Raimondi (trumpet), Joe Debono (piano), Mátyás Szandai (doublebass) and Lionel Boccara (drums).
The album will soon be available from a variety of online stores, including iTunes, Amazon mp3 and Google Play Music Store.
The Sound Catalogues is an artistic concept consisting of various ‘catalogues’ that record inspiring events, figures, eras, inventions, and more, using musical composition and performance as a means of artistic expression.
This first volume takes into account a series of historic events.
By creating a set of contemporary compositions, the emotions related to each event are explored and allowed to resurface, having each event catalogued as an album track. The works have been recorded at Studio Sextan in Paris, France.
The Sound Catalogues came together from a collaborative performance during the 2012 Malta Jazz Festival. The idea developed from the ongoing search for a source acting as the creativity catalyst. The project is supported by the Malta Arts Fund.
The event will be held on October 10 and 11 at St James Cavalier, Valletta.
