Why, may I ask, are the responsible authorities sanctioning and condoning the ongoing massacre or drastic pruning of ornamental trees which have been gracing our urban and rural environment for scores of years, on the doubtful pretext that they are not “endemic” and, at the same time, allowing the importation of dangerous alien animals and reptiles like boa constrictors which may reproduce, escape and invade our hitherto safe environment?
