What are your general comments about driving in Malta?
People with a driving licence should respect learners on the road more. Alix Abela, 20, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology.
Most drivers do not behave responsibly in their actions on the road. Moreover, laws are not enforced. Marilyn Camenzuli, 20, Bachelor of Arts in Maltese and Psychology.
Some drivers lack respect towards each other and towards pedestrians. There is always panic and chaos during rush hour. Kylie D’Amato, 23, Mcast Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Health and Social Care (Management).
What dangers do you meet on the roads?
The dangers on the road in Malta are no different from abroad. The fact that we are legally allowed to consume alcohol before we are legally allowed to drive is the biggest issue we face locally. It is not right. Alix Abela.
The dangers are the election billboards everywhere, underage driving, potholes even on main roads, excessive speeding and no consideration for pedestrians and motorcyclists. Marilyn Camenzuli.
Some of the dangers I face are drivers lacking responsibility, poor quality road surfaces and ineffective traffic management during rush hour. Kylie D’Amato.
Are motorcycles an unnecessary extra risk?
No, they would not be if car drivers were more aware of motorcycles and the roads were made to cater for them. Alix Abela.
No, motorcycles should be treated just like other methods of transport. Marilyn Camenzuli.
It depends on the driver as, sometimes, they are more prone to road accidents. The Maltese road infrastructure does not help. Kylie D’Amato.
