The feast of St Blaise was celebrated last Sunday in the locality of San Blas in Nadur. Marches were performed by Mnarja Band, after which Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, archpriest Jimmy Xerri and local priests celebrated Mass. Residents of Arka Respite Centre also attended and the money collected during the Mass was donated to the centre. After Mass, the blessing of throats took place where people’s throats were touched with blessed candles and prayers were said so that, through St Blaise’s intercession, God may protect the person concerned from throat-related illnesses. Mgr Grech also blessed pets, fruits, vegetables and artwork exhibited at the event. The Military Vehicle Club Gozo organised a show of vehicles at the venue.
