Fina have successfully retained their MSV Life National League crown in style, having been reconfirmed as champions with one week to spare, in the 18-week season.

They claimed victory with a total of 118 points from a maximum of 144, which translates to a very impressive 81.9 per cent win rate.

Fina were in no mood for charity in Week 18 in spite of their having the league title safely in the bag, rounding off their victorious season with an 8-0 win over fourth-placed Turu’s Knights.

Okmalta.com seemed to struggle with their form and consistency for a good portion of the season, but rallied to stage a late challenge, having to make do with second place, 14 points behind on 104, just five ahead of third place which was claimed by Ramis.

It was Ramis who enjoyed the better form in the earlier section of the league campaign, as they tussled with Fina for the top spot for several weeks.

Okmalta.com picked up all eight from their final encounter with bottom side, Strike Me, and there was a similar success for Ramis, with Blitzkrieg (sixth) on the receiving end of the thrashing.

At the other end of the table, the battle for survival went down to the wire with both relegation places being decided in the final week’s fixtures.

Supreme pulled off a Houdini act to escape the drop and finish eighth by beating Strike Me (relegated) 6-2, which also meant that YoBetit (ex-The Clan) dropped into the second relegation spot with their heavy loss at the hands of okmalta.com.

Royal Shock finished in fifth place, ending their season with a 6-2 win over XS Vitel (seventh) in a no-pressure match, with neither team harbouring any hope of a top-three finish or fears of relegation for that matter.

Final standings
Fina 118, okmalta.com 104, Ramis 99, Turu’s Knights 74, Royal Shock 67, Blitzkrieg 63, XS Vitel 56, Supreme 50, YoBetit 45, Strike Me 44.
