Week five of the MSV Life National League saw champions Fina open up a four-point lead at the top of the standings thanks to a massive 8-0 victory over XS Vitel, as previous leaders Ramis could only manage a four-all draw against Royal Shock.

Okmalta.com bagged their first 100 per cent victory of the season against a weak Supreme outfit, and there was also a full-point win for Blitzkrieg over The Clan.

The clash between Strike Me and Turu’s Knights produced the second tied result of the week.

Fina were in a class of their own as they pulled off the highest team series of the campaign to date (2,502 pins) in the drubbing of XS Vitel.

The difference between the two teams was clear from the opening frames as Fina easily took the first game 650-746, before shooting the best game of the week to also secure the second game, 740-903.

XS Vitel could do nothing to stop the rot, as Fina took the final game 733-853 to complete the rout.

Ramis are now in second place as they were held to a draw by fourth-placed Royal Shock.

It was Royal Shock who took the early advantage thanks to their 738-780 game one victory.

That narrow 42-pin cushion would prove to be vital in the end as Ramis soon bounced back to win the second and third games, 774-757 and 749-748 respectively.

This meant that Royal Shock held on to the series points with their slim 24-pin edge (2,261-2,285).

Okmalta.com managed their first 8-0 win this season although it was as much to do with a poor showing from their opponents, Supreme.

Okmalta.com won the opener 648-691 and then went four up with a 648-726 game two win.

Game three produced okmalta. com’s best effort for a 683-845 finale.

Bowlers of the Week: Kenneth Arpa (Fina, 665); Tiziana Carannante (Turu’s Knights, 585).

League standings: Fina 36, Ramis 32, okmalta.com 26, Royal Shock 20, Blitzkrieg 18, Turu’s Knights 16, Supreme 16, The Clan 14, Strike Me 12, XS Vitel 10.
