Children at three Church homes – Angela House in Guardamangia, St Patrick’s in Sliema and Piccola Casa di San Giuseppe in Valletta – were recently offered several free sessions of an American fine art programme for children called KidzArt.
KidzArt principal Simone Stilon said the project, which was supported by the National Lotteries Good Causes Fund, was aimed at providing the children with the opportunity of having art in their lives, to increase their skills and knowledge of various art media and to have fun and express their creativity.
KidzArt, founded in 1993, is an innovative educational programme that aims to develop children’s artistic imagination. It teaches drawing skills, promotes problem-solving, enhances learning, builds self-confidence and celebrates individual style. This also sets the stage for a lifelong appreciation of the arts and a lifetime of creativity.
