For someone to lose anything of value it’s a misfortune but for the Maltese to lose Għar Lapsi beach would be a disaster.
Any frequent caller to this beautiful bay might have noticed, as from some years back, that heavy rainfalls and strong winds have repeatedely brought down a considerable amount of rocks, some of them quite huge, from the precipice that surrounds the bay. It was quite sensible on the part of the authorities concerned to temporarily close the area with wire netting to keep swimmers and sunbathers out of any possible danger. However, this situation has now been dragging on far too long and, as summer is fast approaching, I believe something should be urgently done to clear the passageways and clean the concrete areas from the old debris for patrons to enjoy.
