Media practitioners recently gave students, company representatives and other interested parties practical advice on how to get their voice heard in the competitive print and online media landscape during a seminar entitled ‘Writing for the media’ held at the University Valletta campus by the English-Speaking Union (ESU) and the University’s Department of English Students Association.
The Sunday Times deputy editor Herman Grech, BBC trainer and former editor Leslie Skipper, PR consultant Malcolm Naudi, and Monique Chambers, editor of Indulge magazine, gave the participants an overview of the local and international media scene and shared their experiences and insights during the seminar presentations and workshops, and a panel discussion mediated by Pier Massa.
ESU chairman John de Giorgio said he was impressed by the high level of interest in the event, adding that it would be repeated.
The ESU aims to strengthen the standards of spoken and written English in Malta.
