Can somebody please explain to me, well to everyone really, why the traffic lights at St Andrews near the Luxol grounds always switch off with the slightest rainfall?

Is some safety device installed in them to switch them off and protect them against the rain? If so, it mitigates against the safety they are there to provide us with at such a dangerous crossroads, especially when it’s raining.

On another note, we saw Transport Malta tarmacking a section of the Regional Road near the traffic lights leading into Paceville. Well done. It must have cost a couple of thousands of euros. However, was it really necessary when there are other areas that are in a much more dire need of surfacing? A case in point is the approach to the traffic lights near Luxol grounds, guaranteed to test one’s shock absorbers to the limits. Triq Il-Qasam in Swieqi is also terrible. Are there any plans for surfacing there before I turn 65? (I’m 45 now.)
