Gozo Bishop Mario Grech has appointed Fr Franklin Vella of Xewkija as assistant priest in the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St Gregory at Kerċem.

Fr Vella was ordained to the priesthood in July 2011 and has been working at Our Lady of Graces parish in Żabbar for the last few years.

He will also be helping Fr Anthony Sultana as chaplain at the Gozo General Hospital.

Fr Geoffrey Attard of Victoria has been appointed secretary for the diocesan pastoral visit that was inaugurated by Mgr Grech on October 11.

Fr Attard was ordained to the priesthood in June 2004 and spent four years in Scotland, where he obtained a Master of Theology in Church History and M. Lit. in Practical Theology.

On his return to Gozo in 2008, he was appointed assistant priest at St Mary’s parish in Żebbuġ, Gozo, and a teacher at the Minor Seminary secondary school in Victoria.
