The Thomas Smith Group presented €8,000, the sum raised from the 19th edition of its charity swim, to President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at San Anton Palace, Attard. Ever since the charity swim started, the group has collected just over €110,000. “The swim has become an annual event on the local calendar and attracts a number of swimmers who express solidarity and altruism,” said Joe Gerada, the group’s managing director. Seen here is Mr Gerada presenting a cheque to the President in the presence of, from left, Mark Zammit and Janet Tanti, volunteers from the Civil Protection Department and the Malta Red Cross respectively, Carmel Briffa, a trustee of the President’s Trust and member of the supervisory council of the MCCF, Liana Cachia, the group’s marketing and HR manager, Luke Hyzler, representing the group’s swimmers, and Diandra Axisa, representing the group’s volunteers.
