Technology-based educational resources to explain health and safety concepts to pupils aged between seven and 11 have been made available to teachers.
The resources include a six-lesson plan on topics and scenarios that schoolchildren may come across at home or at school, such as safety and security signs, skin protection and identifying risky and dangerous situations.
Each lesson includes an introduction for teachers, short video clips featuring popular children’s character Napo, and other resources. The clips and creative activities aim to explore the subject in an informative and enjoyable way and may be used in various subject lessons, such as health and safety, personal, social and character development, science and maths.
The initiative was launched by Occupational Health and Safety Authority chairman Deo Debattista during a visit to St Ignatius College’s Siġġiewi primary school.
The resources were created by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), in collaboration with the Napo Consortium.
