A frequent visitor to Malta, Hesael was born Emanuele Pavano, in Ragusa, Sicily.
A fairly established singer, songwriter and musician, Hesael started out as a teenage entertainer with leading tour operator Alpitour, which gave him the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of people every week. It was around this time too that he started to write his own songs, all of which were inspired by personal experiences.
His participation in a national song festival in 1998 – in which he placed second – brought him to the attention of new audiences, and eventually more festivals and awards.
In 2012, Hesael received the prestigious Sicila È award for Best Emerging Artist, thanks to which his career has been boosted even further.
Apart from his own original songs, Hesael also writes music for short films and likes to interpret other artists’ work, giving their songs his own personal touch. Earlier this year, he released a new single, Il Fuoco Ardente, and recently also collaborated with DJ M on a rather original remix of Depeche Mode’s classic hit, Enjoy the Silence.
Hesael will be performing an acoustic set live at De Olde Keg in St Julian’s on Wednesday. Entrance is free and Charlie Rackstraw will be supporting.
