We are hearing more and more about improving the quality of our tourism product which has evolved into one of the most important sectors of Malta’s economy.
Tourism in Malta has done well but much more work remains to be done to improve quality. There is only so much the private sector can do in this regard and the public sector has a very important role to play.
Many studies conducted by the Malta Tourism Authority have shown that tourists tend to complain more about issues like roads, traffic and the lack of outdoor space, which are things the authorities have to deal with.
A new plan and strategy is needed to ensure that the quality of tourism is improved. This should be a joint plan between the business sector and the government, one which will hopefully take the tourism industry forward.
