It’s such a shame that our government has after all decided to shelve its plans for the Car Free Day. It should have instead worked closely with Arriva and offered free public transport. Such an initiative would have worked wonders as a promotional tool for Arriva and it would have also given us the opportunity to experience efficient public transport without traffic jams disrupting its schedules.

Allowances could have been made for doctors and others who might have had genuine reasons for using the car on a Sunday (such as for work where a car is necessary). The rest of us who go on Sunday drives could have substituted it with a Sunday bike ride instead, at least for one Sunday.
