As a great lover of animals, particularly birds, I was delighted to read that birds are as intelligent as seven-year-old children. From the age of eight children then surpassed the birds in intelligence.

This was the result of experiments made by researchers at Cambridge University in which the birds did just as well as seven-year-old children.

In my opinion anyone getting up from a warm bed at three in the morning to go to the fields on a cold, windy and rainy morning to kill beautiful, harmless birds does not even have the intelligence of a three-year-old child.

Therefore, it is ironic that a creature with lesser intelligence is allowed legally to kill a more intelligent living being.

Should all our political parties continue to allow this yearly massacre of the “innocents” to continue?

It is a shame on our country and a shame on those people who have not grown up and are living in the past.
