A man from Sta Luċija was sent back to prison four days after being released on bail for sending threatening text messages to his girlfriend.

Sean Grima, 27, pleaded guilty to sending a number of threatening messages to his girlfriend in breach of a previous court order not to approach her in anyway.

Mr Grima was granted bail on Wednesday after he spent a number of months in preventive custody.

He also pleaded guilty to misusing electronic equipment and breaching a court order.

Magistrate Anthony Vella jailed him for one month and ordered him to pay the €2,000 which had been imposed as a personal guarantee.

Police Inspectors Jurgen Vella and Spiridione Zammit prosecuted.
