Laura Hughes suggests parents should leave their children’s tablet behind when packing their beach bag. There are far more interesting things to do on Malta’s and Gozo’s shores.
Family Olympics
Turn a day at the beach into an Olympic-inspired competition. Set up different games like hurdles, discus throw and relay sprints. This will be fun for all the family as well as keeping the children active and exercising.
Water activities
Water sports activities are sure to keep the children entertained. Depending on their age you can choose among boat rides, water skiing and canoeing, among other activities.
Diving school
If your child loves snorkelling and looks interested in going further deep into the sea, it might be a good idea to take up diving. There are many diving schools in Malta, which can provide fun for either the whole day or just a few hours.
Fishing
Fishing is an exciting and informative activity. Malta has a number of fishing schools. Offshore trips allow one to catch medium to large fish and there are options for the whole family.
Horse riding
Horse riding is a leisure activity suitable for riders of all ages, both beginners and experienced. There are several routes and riding schools along the northern coastline and Golden Bay is particularly popular for such an activity. Riding allows children to relax, have fun and exercise all at the same time. You can treat your children to a ride at sunset after a day at the beach… unless they are exhausted!
