Kerċem Ajax, 2-0 winners over Żebbuġ Rovers in their last outing, need just one point from their last three Division Two matches to secure the title and promotion to the top flight.

Josef Debrincat fired Kerċem ahead after 28 minutes of their game against Żebbuġ and Leonard Camilleri sealed their win with a second goal 14 minutes from time.

With this win, Kerċem extended their unbeaten run to 15 matches and are now six points clear of Oratory Youths with a game in hand.

Oratory Youths held on to second place with two wins in the space of four days.

They played Qala Saints first and it was the latter who went ahead through Derek Borg (10).

Oratory hit back with goals from Shaun Attard (26) and Francesco Cini (63).

Francisco Munford (70) made it 2-2 but the Youths scored twice from the penalty late on through Dione Lautier (86) and Reuben Mercieca (90) to secure a 4-2 win.

Oratory then edged out Munxar Falcons by the odd goal in three for their 12th victory of the season.

The Youths stormed into a two-goal lead thanks to a brace from Francesco Cini (23, 30).

Munxar staged a determined reaction after the break but only succeeded in pulling one back through Daniel Pace 16 minutes from time.

St Lawrence Spurs consolidated third place with a straightforward 2-0 win over Għarb Rangers.

The Spurs took the lead after an own goal by Luke Mizzi and all but sealed the issue when Fabian Cini doubled their advantage right on the hour.

In the remaining Division Two match of a long weekend of football at the Gozo Stadium, Qala Saints scored a goal in each half to beat Żebbug 2-0 in a basement clash.

Qala have now moved one point above second-from-bottom Rovers.

Qala forged ahead through Denis Abela four minutes from half-time and substitute Munford wrapped up the win four minutes from time.

Żebbuġ had Chris Gafa sent off for a second caution 18 minutes from time.
