I write again to protest on a particular advert by Emcare on Radju Malta. The advert promotes some equipment required by the elderly. What worries me and many others (some have been complaining for quite some time during the morning programme Familja Waħda), is the language used and the way the advert is being presented.
I know a number of elderly people who live on their own and, every time they listen to the advert, they shiver at the thought that they might become victims of some theft. This is a shame for both PBS and also for Emcare and they seem to be more interested in money rather than education.
During a recent edition of Familja Waħda, listeners intervened to complain and show their disapproval about the said advert, which had been aired just a few minutes before the programme started. Had the programme presenter not asked the listeners to stop complaining about the advert because there was no one in the studio to answer their question, I am sure many others would have followed.
It would be interesting to know how many complaints PBS has to receive before stopping the advert or ask Emcare to change it. Top people at PBS have to bear in mind they are being paid out of taxpayers’ money and, consequently, are in duty bound to adhere to their justified wishes.
