Reigning champions okmalta. com saw their lead slashed to just two points in week ten of the MSV Life League after they suffered a surprise 6-2 defeat at the hands of J. Grima & Co.

Their position was further undermined by chasers Fina and Ramis, who both racked up full-point wins over Supreme and MIA respectively.

In other matches, Turu’s Knights claimed a 6-2 win over The Clan while St James Hospital and Rogantino’s drew 4-4.

Week 10 marks the beginning of round two in the current season, with a change in the lane conditions applied.

The new oil pattern seemed to cause immediate problems for okmalta.com whose performance against J. Grima & Co was a far cry from their previous form.

Their opponents took the lead with a scrappy but close 653-643 opening win and were then 4-0 up thanks to a slightly better 734-701 win in the second game.

The defending champions then managed to avoid further misery with a poor 722-708 game three to salvage a two-point share.

Bowlers of the week: Mark Spiteri (Ramis, 652); Tiziana Carannante (Turu’s Knights, 505).

Standings (week 10 okmalta.com 62; Fina 60; Ramis 58; Turu’s Knights 50; Rogantino’s 44; J. Grima & Co. 37; The Clan 32; St James 26; Supreme 17; MIA 14.
