A Libyan driver yesterday denied a plethora of charges in court after allegedly crashing into another man’s car while drunk and then getting into an argument with a nurse at the hospital.

Yousri Agouri, 32, from Fgura denied driving his Seat Marbella dangerously on Saturday afternoon in a drunken state and smashing into a Hyundai Accent driven by Fawstino Cachia in St Paul’s Bay.

He denied threatening Mr Cachia and violently resisting arrest at the Qawra police station, slightly injuring Police Constable Joseph Cini, breaching the peace, disobeying police orders and relapsing.

While at Mater Dei hospital, he also allegedly swore at nurse Annalise Farrugia. Furthermore, he pleaded not guilty to driving without a licence and committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman denied bail and remanded him in custody.

Lawyer Joe Brincat appeared for Mr Agouri.
